Brandi Carlisle, Ben Taylor, Lily Allen

Brandi Carlisle, The Story
This review pretty much sums Brandi up: Listening to her album it makes for a hard comparison to a lot of other things that you have heard. There is a lot of depth to both the performance and to the songwriting so much so that it is hard to believe that she was born after the first shuttle lunched and when Return of the Jedi had just hit the theaters. Brandi has a slow, deliberate delivery that draws you into listening closer. She has very pleasant and clear voice sung in a hue that almost reminds me of much younger Reba. The passion and conviction that she brings to your ears reminded me of how well Bette Midler sells her voice. Brandi brings a lot of talent to you vocally.

Brandi Carlisle is tough one to pick for a certain style or genre. She has a country/folk voice delivered a poppy singer/songwriter kind of way. Sort of like if James Taylor and Patsy Kline has a little girl hidden in the backwoods of Washington.

Ben Taylor:
Son of James Taylor and Carly Simon, Taylor acknowledges both of his parents have affected the way he creates songs -- the music often reflects his father's approach, according to Taylor, while his mother taught him how to write lyrics. Yep, he's pretty much a modern version of his father with mellow songs and beautiful lyrics.

Lily Allen, Alright, Still
Lily's Story: An ambitious young singer signs with a major label, refuses the label’s suggestion to go the pre-fab pop route, posts her demos on MySpace, routinely writes personable (and often hilarious) anecdotes on her blog, and quickly wins over thousands of fans on the internet, forcing the music media to follow suit and her record label to scramble to get a product in stores.

She's sarcastic and cheeky and I love her.
